QUAKERTOWN, Pa. — A powerful thunderstorm that moved through the Quakertown area Tuesday evening brought torrential rainfall, causing widespread flooding, road closures, stranded vehicles, and water damage across portions of Upper Bucks County.

The slow-moving storm dumped several inches of rain in a short period of time, overwhelming storm drains, creeks, and low-lying roadways. Some areas near Quakertown are estimated to have received nearly 7 inches of rain, leading to dangerous flash flooding conditions.

Emergency crews responded to numerous reports of flooded roadways, water rescues, and vehicles trapped in high water. Several businesses and residential properties also reported flooding as the intense rainfall quickly exceeded the area’s drainage capacity.

Cleanup efforts are now underway as residents assess the damage left behind. Officials continue to remind motorists to never drive through flooded roadways, as it is impossible to determine the depth of the water or whether the roadway beneath has been compromised.

First Source News will continue to follow the recovery efforts and provide updates as more information becomes available
