BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. — Wednesday, January 6

Plaintiff Injured Inside FacilityClaims of Negligence

Another lawsuit has been filed as investigators continue to examine the deadly explosion that destroyed a Bucks County nursing home late last month.

The newly filed civil suit alleges that a natural gas leak had been present for several days before the December 23 explosion at the Bristol Health & Rehab Center. The blast killed three people, injured approximately 20 others, and forced the evacuation of residents and staff.

Filed Tuesday, January 6, the lawsuit is now the third civil action connected to the explosion. The complaint names PECO Energy Company and its parent company, Exelon Corporation, as defendants, along with Saber Healthcare Holdings, LLC — the Ohio-based operator of the facility — and the Bristol Health & Rehab Center itself.

Plaintiff Injured Inside Facility

The plaintiffs in the case are Yajaira Elizabeth Quille Torres and her husband, Roque Antonio Macas Torres, both of Bensalem. According to the lawsuit, Yajaira was inside the building at the time of the explosion and sustained injuries.

Court filings state that Yajaira was working at the facility in a contracted role, not as a direct employee of the nursing home.

The couple is represented by Philadelphia attorneys Robert S. Miller and Wapner Newman Attorneys at Law.

Claims of Negligence

The lawsuit alleges that warning signs of a gas leak were evident prior to the explosion and that the defendants failed to take appropriate action to prevent the dangerous condition from escalating.

Federal and state agencies remain involved in the ongoing investigation into the cause of the blast. No criminal charges have been announced.

First Source News will continue to track developments as additional lawsuits, investigative findings, or enforcement actions are released.
