Philadelphia 76ers’ star player Joel Embiid is expected to undergo a corrective procedure on his injured left knee, which will keep him out of action for an extended period of time. Multiple reports suggest that Embiid has a displaced flap of the meniscus in his left knee, and he has opted for the procedure to repair the issue. A more specific timeline for his return is expected after the procedure is completed. Embiid’s specific injury, known as a flap tear, is a complex one and is usually treated with a partial menisectomy, as per Jeff Stotts, a certified athletic trainer and injury analyst for Rotowire. This would involve removing a small portion of Embiid’s meniscus. Although Embiid is having the best season of his career, he has continued to struggle with health issues. He has already missed 14 out of Philadelphia’s 48 games so far this season, including a high-profile match against the Denver Nuggets last month. The 76ers also held him out of their following game against the Portland Trail Blazers, but cleared him to return against the Golden State Warriors.
