LOWER MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. – A late-night fire caused significant damage to multiple townhomes in Lower Macungie Township, leading to the hospitalization of two individuals and displacing seven residents.

The fire ignited just after 11 p.m. on Thursday night in the 8000 block of Heritage Drive. The Lower Macungie Fire Department responded to 911 calls reporting flames emanating from the second floor of one of the homes. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire at the back of a townhome.

During the firefighting efforts, one firefighter fell partially through a hole in the floor. Fortunately, fellow firefighters acted quickly to assist, and the injured firefighter was evaluated on the scene by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) as a precautionary measure.

The fire was brought under control shortly after midnight, damaging a total of three homes and forcing seven residents to evacuate. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
