LEVITTOWN, Pa. — A late-night shooting outside a Wawa convenience store in Levittown sent one man to the hospital in critical condition early Friday morning, according to police.
Just before midnight on Thursday, October 23, officers from the Bristol Township Police Department were dispatched to the Wawa located at 3800 Bristol-Oxford Valley Road after reports of gunfire. Responding units arrived within a minute and found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound outside the store.
Emergency crews quickly provided aid before transporting the victim to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown Township. He was later flown to Penn Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia, where he remained in critical condition as of early Friday.
Investigators say the shooting began as a verbal argument between two individuals outside the store that escalated into a physical confrontation. During the altercation, one of the men allegedly drew a firearm and opened fire, striking the victim.
Police confirmed that the suspected shooter stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Authorities emphasized there is no ongoing threat to the public and that the incident appears to be isolated.
The Wawa was temporarily closed overnight as police processed the scene but reopened before daybreak.
The identities of both the victim and the shooter have not yet been released, and the investigation remains active. Detectives continue to gather witness statements and review security footage from the area to determine whether charges will be filed.
Residents expressed concern about the growing number of late-night disturbances at area convenience stores, though officials assured the community that additional patrols and surveillance reviews are underway.
