SOUTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. — A man has died following an early morning house fire in South Whitehall Township on Monday.

Emergency crews were dispatched around 4 a.m. to the 2800 block of Helen Street for a reported dwelling fire.

According to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio, firefighters located and removed a man from the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 5 a.m.

The man’s identity has not yet been released. The coroner’s office is working to identify the victim and notify his next of kin.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday to determine the official cause and manner of death.

Officials have not released any information regarding what sparked the fire, and it is unclear whether anyone else was inside the home at the time. No additional injuries have been reported.

The fire remains under investigation by the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office, the South Whitehall Township Fire Department, and other investigating agencies.
