MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Montgomery Township Police Department and community are mourning the sudden passing of Sgt. Lee Wagner, a longtime law enforcement officer and U.S. Navy veteran. He was 48 years old.

Wagner died following a sudden medical emergency.

He served with the Montgomery Township Police Department for approximately 16 years, dedicating much of his career to protecting and serving the Montgomery Township community.

Before beginning his career in law enforcement, Wagner served his country in the United States Navy.

During his time with Montgomery Township Police, Wagner rose through the department’s ranks. He was promoted to corporal in 2017 and became a sergeant in 2018.

His career also included recognition for his work in the community. Wagner was among Montgomery Township first responders honored by the American Red Cross in 2024 for lifesaving actions following a cardiac arrest call the previous year.

Wagner had also received recognition earlier in his career for his police work and commitment to the safety of Montgomery Township residents.

Beyond his service in the military and law enforcement, Wagner was a husband and father. He is survived by his wife and four children.

His sudden passing is being felt throughout the Montgomery Township Police Department and the community he served for more than a decade.

First Source News extends its condolences to Sgt. Wagner’s family, friends, fellow officers and the entire Montgomery Township community.
