One dead after tractor-trailer crash on the Northeast extension

On Tuesday morning, officials from Carbon County released information regarding accident that occurred in Penn Forest Township at approximately 9:15 PM on Route 476 northbound. A collision between a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle resulted in the death of one individual. The victim has been identified as Paul Schweizer, a 68-year-old resident of Harveys Lake, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner’s office determined that the cause of death was thermal burns and smoke inhalation, and classified the manner of death as accidental. The driver of the tractor-trailer sustained injuries but survived the incident.
