SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, Pa. — A Pennsylvania State Police Trooper died early Wednesday morning while conducting a motor carrier inspection along Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County.
The trooper was assigned to Troop L, Frackville Barracks, according to the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #62.
According to verified information, the incident happened along I-81 southbound between the St. Clair and Highridge Park Road exits. The trooper died following a vehicle fire on the interstate.
“Our FOP extends its heartfelt condolences and prayers to the members’ family and all of our brothers and sisters who remain to carry out the duties of the Pennsylvania State Police,” FOP Lodge #62 said in a Facebook post.
The trooper’s identity has not yet been released.
Additional details surrounding the crash and vehicle fire have not yet been made public. The incident remains under investigation.
