MALVERN, Pa. — Police are investigating after the Chester County home of Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was reportedly burglarized early Saturday morning.
According to authorities, officers with the Tredyffrin Township Police Department were dispatched to Barkley’s home around 5 a.m. after receiving a report of a burglary in progress. By the time officers arrived, the suspects had already fled the area.
Officials said Barkley and his family are safe, and there have been no reports of any injuries.
Investigators believe the suspects left the area in a white SUV, which is now a focus of the ongoing investigation. Police have not released a description of the suspects or confirmed what, if anything, was taken from the home.
The Chester County District Attorney’s Office is assisting Tredyffrin Township Police as the investigation continues. Authorities are also reviewing evidence and asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area during the early morning hours to come forward.
At this time, investigators have not indicated whether the burglary is connected to any other incidents in the region.
The incident comes as professional athletes across the country have increasingly become targets of burglaries, often while they are away from home. Investigators have not said whether this case appears to be related to that trend.
The investigation remains active, and additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
First Source News will continue to provide updates as more information is confirmed by investigators.
