LONDON, England — February 19, 2026

:
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew and the younger brother of King Charles III, was arrested Thursday in England on suspicion of misconduct in public office, according to Thames Valley Police.

Authorities confirmed that a man in his 60s from Norfolk was taken into custody. While police did not officially identify the suspect, details including the suspect’s age, residence, and searches conducted at royal properties align with Prince Andrew, also known as the Duke of York.

In a statement, Thames Valley Police said officers arrested the man and are conducting searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk as part of an ongoing investigation.

“The man remains in police custody at this time. We will not be naming the arrested man, as per national guidance,” police said.

Images from Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate in eastern England showed what appeared to be police officers arriving in multiple unmarked vehicles Thursday. The arrest occurred on Andrew’s 66th birthday.

King Charles III acknowledged the situation in a statement, saying he had learned of the news with “deepest concern.” Buckingham Palace has not released further details.

Misconduct in public office is a serious criminal offense in the United Kingdom. It generally involves allegations that a public official abused their position, failed to fulfill their duties, or improperly used authority.

Prince Andrew has largely remained out of public life in recent years following prior controversies. In 2022, he stepped back from official royal duties and lost his military titles and royal patronages.

Police have not released specific details about the allegations that led to Thursday’s arrest. The investigation remains active, and no formal charges have been announced at this time.

First Source News will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as more information becomes available.
