SOUTH WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP, PA** — A man died after being shot by police during a confrontation at a home on Wednesday. The Lehigh County district attorney reported that the man, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, approached officers while armed with what appeared to be a rifle.

The incident unfolded around 1 p.m. when South Whitehall police received a call regarding a man with a gun at a residence on the 100 block of N. 38th Street. Upon arrival, multiple officers encountered the man, leading to the fatal shooting. Further details are still emerging as the investigation continues.
