
PERKASIE, Pa. — New information released by the Pennridge School District indicates that a small fire inside a classroom at Pennridge North Middle School was quickly extinguished by the building’s sprinkler system Monday evening.
According to district officials, the fire was reported at approximately 8:20 p.m. inside a classroom at the school on North 5th Street in Perkasie.
The school’s automatic sprinkler system activated and extinguished the fire before it could spread. Multiple local fire departments responded to the scene and assisted with the incident.
District officials said cleanup operations are underway and confirmed that no injuries were reported.
“We would like to thank our local firefighters and the district support staff who are on site assisting with these efforts,” the district said in a statement.
An investigation will be conducted to determine what caused the fire and to assess the extent of any damage to the classroom.
The incident occurred while school was not in session and students were not inside the building.
