TOWAMENCIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Firefighters are battling a working house fire at a two-story home in the 1900 block of Stratton Drive in Towamencin Township, Montgomery County.

Emergency crews were dispatched after reports of a residential structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions, with the rear of the home heavily involved. Flames were also visible extending into the attic area along one side of the residence.

The fire caused significant damage to the rear and side of the home. Windows on one side of the structure also appeared to have been blown out.

According to initial scanner traffic, multiple callers reported hearing an explosion before the fire was discovered. At this time, officials have not confirmed that an explosion occurred, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Firefighters quickly stretched attack lines and began an aggressive fire attack to contain the blaze while conducting searches and protecting the remainder of the structure.

As of this publication, there has been no official word on injuries.

Residents are urged to avoid the area and allow firefighters and emergency personnel room to operate safely while crews continue working at the scene.

First Source News will continue to update this story as additional information is released by fire officials.
