Two homes were displaced after a sinkhole opened in the 1200 block of North 15th Street in the City of Allentown, caused by a water main break.
Emergency crews responded after the ground suddenly collapsed near the roadway and driveway area, causing significant damage and concerns for nearby properties. Residents from at least two houses were forced to leave as a precaution while crews worked to secure the scene and begin repairs.
Firefighters, police, and city public works crews shut down part of the street as utility workers addressed the broken water line and assessed underground damage. Several surrounding homes experienced temporary water service disruptions.
There have been no injuries reported at this time.
Crews continue working to stabilize the area and restore service while monitoring for further ground movement.
