BETHLEHEM CITY, PA — Firefighters battled a third-alarm blaze late tonight at a multi-story residential building in the 1200 block of Mechanic Street in Bethlehem City as freezing temperatures and snow-covered streets created dangerous conditions for crews operating on scene.
The fire broke out inside the large residential structure, sending heavy flames and smoke into the night sky. Bethlehem City fire crews were dispatched as the incident escalated to a third alarm.
Firefighters faced extremely challenging conditions, with icy roadways, snow-covered sidewalks, and freezing temperatures complicating hose line operations, ladder placement, and water supply. Despite the weather, crews aggressively attacked the fire and worked to prevent further damage.
Fire officials report no injuries at this time.
Residents were evacuated as a precaution while firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control. Units remained on scene conducting overhaul and checking for extension.
