FOUNTAIN HILL, Pa. — An Allentown man has been sentenced to state prison after pleading guilty in connection with a Christmas Eve burglary at a Lehigh County pharmacy.

Miguel Angel Martinez, 57, was ordered to serve 8 to 20 years in state prison by Judge Anna-Kristie M. Marks on June 26, according to the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.

Martinez pleaded guilty in May to felony charges of Conspiracy to Commit Burglary and Burglary, along with a misdemeanor charge of Possessing Instruments of Crime, prosecutors said.

The case stems from a burglary reported shortly after 9 p.m. on Dec. 24, 2024, at Fountain Hill Pharmacy, located at 1049 Broadway in Fountain Hill.

According to the district attorney’s office, Fountain Hill Police responded to a sounding burglar alarm and arrived to find two men inside the pharmacy. The men were later identified as Martinez and David Montes Vazquez, 34, of Bethlehem.

Authorities said Vazquez pointed a gun at a Fountain Hill police officer, prompting the officer to open fire. Prosecutors said the gunfire did not strike either Martinez or Vazquez.

During the incident, residents in the area were ordered to remain inside their homes as police worked to bring the situation under control. Martinez and Vazquez eventually surrendered to police, authorities said.

Investigators said both men broke into the pharmacy, spray-painted surveillance cameras while inside, and stole medication.

Vazquez remains charged in the case. According to the district attorney’s office, he is facing felony counts including Conspiracy to Commit Burglary, Burglary, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of a Firearm Prohibited, along with multiple misdemeanor conspiracy charges.

Vazquez was scheduled for a status conference at 10 a.m. on June 30, 2026, before Judge Marks.

Martinez’s sentence was announced by the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.
