UPPER GWYNEDD TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A Quakertown-area contractor is facing charges after police allege he left the scene of a crash involving a 16-year-old driver without exchanging information, contacting authorities or checking whether the teenager was injured.
According to court documents, Alex Wayne Fedele, 32, has been charged with misdemeanor counts related to leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury and damage to an attended vehicle. He also faces summary offenses for allegedly failing to provide information or assistance and failing to report the crash to police.
The incident happened at approximately 4:34 p.m. on Aug. 11, 2026, along Allentown Road near Bradford Lane in Upper Gwynedd Township.
Police said an officer came upon a disabled Chevrolet Cruze blocking a northbound lane. The vehicle’s front airbag had deployed, and the 16-year-old driver reportedly had visible redness around his face and nose.
According to the criminal complaint, the teenager told investigators that traffic ahead of him had stopped shortly after he passed Dawn Drive. He attempted to brake but collided with a landscaping or construction trailer being pulled by a pickup truck.
The teenager reportedly told police he had been traveling approximately 40 mph before the collision and briefly lost consciousness after impact. When he regained consciousness, he said smoke had filled the vehicle and he got out.
Police allege Fedele, who was driving the pickup pulling the trailer, approached the teenager’s vehicle following the crash.
The teen reportedly asked to exchange insurance information and indicated that he wanted to contact police. According to the affidavit, Fedele allegedly refused and told the teenager that he had “learned your lesson” before returning to his truck and leaving the area.
The teenager’s vehicle was disabled and later towed from the scene. He was transported to a hospital for evaluation and treatment of a head injury.
Investigators later reviewed residential surveillance footage and used additional investigative methods to identify a blue GMC pickup truck pulling a black landscaping trailer. Police said the truck and trailer were registered to Fedele Contractors Inc.
According to the complaint, a representative of the company told investigators that Fedele had reported being rear-ended but said the trailer was not damaged and that he left the scene.
Police subsequently spoke with Fedele by phone. Investigators allege he acknowledged being involved in the collision and admitted that he did not remain at the scene, contact police or provide insurance information because he believed his trailer had not been damaged.
Fedele also allegedly told investigators that he did not notice the teenager was injured and acknowledged that he had not checked on him.
When questioned about his alleged comment to the teenager following the crash, police said Fedele acknowledged making the “learned your lesson” remark.
According to the complaint, Fedele initially declined to provide investigators with his driver’s license and vehicle documentation but later complied.
The teenager’s parents later told investigators their son had been diagnosed with a concussion and was experiencing severe headaches. Police said the teenager remained under the care of a specialist when investigators conducted an additional interview on Aug. 14.
The charges against Fedele are allegations. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
