RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Emergency crews worked for more than an hour Friday evening following a two-vehicle crash involving a passenger vehicle and a tanker truck carrying dry cement.

The crash was reported at approximately 6:17 p.m. Friday, August 28, at Richlandtown Pike and California Road.

According to information released by firefighters, Assistant 36 arrived to find a passenger vehicle off the roadway and a tanker truck carrying dry cement positioned off to the side of the road. Richlandtown Command was established, and additional fire police units were requested to secure the area and assist with traffic control.

Engine 36 crews immediately began working to free an occupant trapped inside the passenger vehicle. Firefighters removed both doors and performed a dash push before successfully extricating the patient.

The patient was then turned over to EMS for transport. The extent of the person’s injuries was not immediately available.

Crews from Richland Township Fire & Rescue and Quakertown Fire Company No. 1 assisted with securing the vehicles, controlling hazards and clearing debris from the roadway.

Grant’s Towing was requested for removal of the passenger vehicle, while Kirk’s Towing assisted with recovery of the cement tanker.

Fire police from Trumbauersville Fire Company and Tylersport Volunteer Fire Company were among those called to assist with traffic control and scene safety.

Fire crews remained at the scene for approximately 90 minutes before clearing. Fire police continued traffic-control operations for approximately another two hours as towing crews completed the recovery operation and the roadway was cleared.

The fire company thanked the mutual-aid departments, fire police, EMS personnel and towing crews who assisted during the incident.
