The first shooting was reported around 6:53 p.m. in the 600 block of West Gordon Street.
Allentown police responding to the area located a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.
Police have not released the victim’s identity or additional information on what may have led up to the shooting.
About an hour later, shortly after 8 p.m., emergency crews were called to another reported shooting in the area of South Front and East Susquehanna streets.
At least one person was transported from that scene to a local hospital. The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office later confirmed the victim died at the hospital.
Autopsies are scheduled for both victims Wednesday morning.
Investigators have not announced any arrests or released information regarding possible suspects or motives in either shooting.
At this time, authorities have also not said whether the two shootings are connected.
The City of Allentown issued a statement following the violence, saying officials are “deeply saddened by the shootings in our community” and that the city’s Office of Violence Prevention is working with public safety agencies and community partners to assist those affected.
City officials also urged residents not to retaliate, saying additional violence would only cause further harm.
Both investigations remain active and ongoing.
