NORRISTOWN, Pa.* – A man from Montgomery County has been arrested after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase that extended across two counties, facing a multitude of serious charges.

Charles Bowne III, 35, of Pennsburg, is charged with attempted murder, robbery, assault on a law enforcement officer, and aggravated assault in connection with an incident that unfolded on Wednesday in Marlborough Township.

The incident began just before noon when Bowne, driving a dark blue Mustang, reportedly pointed a gun at a bicyclist, stole the bike, and fired at the victim while fleeing the scene. Marlborough Police quickly responded to the situation, locating the Mustang a few minutes later on the 1600 block of Swamp Creek Road. While attempting to evade capture, Bowne allegedly fired several shots directly at a pursuing officer, who escaped unharmed.

Bowne finally stopped his vehicle in the 1800 block of Ridge Road in West Rockhill Township, Bucks County, where he engaged in a standoff with police, continuing to fire multiple weapons. The standoff ended just before 2:30 p.m., at which point authorities recovered three firearms from Bowne.

During his preliminary arraignment, Magisterial District Judge Katherine McGill denied Bowne bail, citing him as a danger to society, and remanded him to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. A bail review hearing is set to take place tomorrow.

This incident underscores the ongoing concerns regarding public safety and the challenges law enforcement faces in the community.
