July 17, 2025 The Philadelphia Eagles community mourns the loss of former linebacker and special teams standout Bryan Braman, who passed away today at the age of 38 after bravely battling a rare and aggressive cancer, following a diagnosis in February of this year

Braman’s journey to football glory began at West Texas A&M after stops at Idaho and Long Beach City College. Despite going undrafted in 2011, he inked a free-agent contract with the Houston Texans—where he quickly made a name for himself with fearless special teams play and memorable helmet-less hits

He later joined the Eagles, where his fearless style continued to shine. In the 2017 playoffs, Braman delivered a pivotal blocked punt in the divisional-round win over Atlanta and played a role in the Eagles’ stunning Super Bowl LII victory over the Patriots—recording one tackle in the championship game

In February, word surfaced of Braman’s cancer diagnosis. A GoFundMe campaign was launched to help cover his mounting medical expenses, ultimately raising over $88,000—highlighted by a generous $10,000 donation from former teammate J.J. Watt

Despite undergoing multiple surgeries and aggressive treatments—some administered in Seattle—the cancer spread rapidly, overwhelming his immune system

His agent, Sean Stellato, confirmed the passing of a man described as a fierce competitor on the field and a devoted father off it. Braman leaves behind two daughters, aged 11 and 8
