LOWER OXFORD TWP., Pa. — Authorities say one person was killed and six others were injured late Saturday night following a shooting at Lincoln University during the school’s homecoming events.

The incident occurred outside the university’s International Cultural Center after a homecoming football game, according to Chester County District Attorney Chris de Barrena-Sarobe.

Investigators confirmed that one person was detained and found in possession of a firearm. Officials have said it is possible there may have been more than one shooter, but they do not believe the incident was a planned mass attack.

The identity of the person who was killed has not been released pending family notification.

Lincoln University issued a statement saying counseling services will be made available to students, staff and others affected by the incident. Marc Partee, the university’s director of public safety, described the university’s leadership as deeply saddened by the events.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said he had been briefed on the shooting and offered support to the university.

Law enforcement agencies, including the Chester County District Attorney’s Office and the Pennsylvania State Police, are investigating. Officials are asking anyone with photos, video or information related to the incident to contact investigators.
