MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. — A widespread Extreme Cold Watch has been issued for much of southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and parts of northeastern Maryland as dangerously cold air moves into the region this weekend.
Forecasters warn wind chills could drop as low as 15 degrees below zero from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning.
The alert covers major population centers including Philadelphia, Bucks and Montgomery counties, Camden, Trenton, Atlantic City, Wilmington, and surrounding communities.
Officials say exposure to these temperatures could quickly lead to hypothermia or frostbite if proper precautions are not taken.
Residents are urged to limit time outdoors, dress in multiple layers, and ensure pets and vulnerable individuals are kept warm. Extra caution should be taken during overnight hours when temperatures will be at their coldest.
