HANOVER TOWNSHIP, Northampton County, Pa. — A third alarm house fire in Hanover Township sent one person to the hospital and brought a large mutual aid response Sunday evening.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the 400 block of Sugar Maple Court for a reported dwelling fire with heavy fire conditions. Initial arriving units reported fire in the rear of the residence, with flames extending and conditions rapidly intensifying.
Due to the volume of fire and manpower needs, the incident was quickly upgraded to a second and then third alarm, bringing additional companies from across Northampton County and surrounding areas.
Firefighters worked aggressively to contain the blaze and prevent extension to nearby homes. Command reported significant fire involvement in the structure as crews operated both interior and exterior attack lines.
One person was transported to a local hospital. The extent of their injuries has not been officially released, but reports indicate the injuries were not considered life-threatening at the time of transport.
Crews remained on scene for an extended period conducting overhaul operations and checking for hidden fire. Hydrant operations and apparatus placement caused temporary traffic disruptions in the neighborhood.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by township fire officials and the fire marshal’s office.
This remains a developing story. Updates will be provided as additional confirmed information becomes available.
