A 64-year-old woman who fell into a sinkhole in Unity Township has been found dead after four days of searching, confirmed Westmoreland County coroner Tim Carson.
Friday marked the fourth day of the search for Elizabeth Pollard, who was last seen searching for a missing cat behind Monday’s Union Restaurant on Monday.
Pollard’s body was discovered around 11 a.m. while crews were in the process of removing dirt. According to Trooper Steve Limani, her body was located approximately 30 feet from where the mine would have been and 12 feet from where the original sinkhole occurred.
“Today was a blessing from God and a result of the hard work from Ligonier Construction,” Limani stated, “to find where she went.”
By around 1:45 p.m. on Friday, crews began the work of filling in the massive hole created during the search.
