HAMBURG, Pa. — At least one person is dead after a crash on Interstate 78 in Berks County early Thursday morning, leading to major traffic problems in and around Hamburg.
Pennsylvania State Police said the crash happened at 4:46 a.m. on I-78 eastbound near Exit 30, between the Hamburg and Lenhartsville exits.
Authorities said the eastbound lanes are currently closed. Hamburg police are warning drivers to expect significant traffic issues in the borough as a result of the closure.
No additional information about the victim or the cause of the crash has been released at this time.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes while emergency crews remain on scene.
