The Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly moving in a new direction after parting ways with team president Daryl Morey following another disappointing postseason outcome.
Multiple reports indicate the organization and Morey have officially split after several seasons overseeing basketball operations in Philadelphia. Morey joined the franchise in 2020 and was heavily involved in reshaping the roster around franchise star Joel Embiid.
During his tenure, the Sixers made several major moves, including acquiring James Harden and later bringing in veteran forward Paul George. However, despite high expectations, the team was unable to make a run to the NBA Finals.
Reports also indicate head coach Nick Nurse is expected to remain with the organization as ownership begins another search for leadership in the front office.
The move comes during a critical offseason for Philadelphia, with questions surrounding roster construction, health, and the future direction of the franchise after another year that ended short of championship expectations.
No immediate replacement for Morey has been officially announced.
More updates are expected as the offseason continues.
