NEW YORK — October 3, 2025 — Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was sentenced Friday in Manhattan federal court to four years and two months in prison after being convicted earlier this summer on prostitution-related charges.
Combs, 55, was found guilty in July of two federal counts tied to the Mann Act, which prohibits transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution. While he was acquitted of the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking by force or coercion, prosecutors argued his influence and wealth allowed him to exploit women and shield his actions for years.
The Sentencing
U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian handed down the sentence, which also includes a $500,000 fine and a term of supervised release following incarceration.
During the hearing, Combs addressed the court, apologizing for his actions.
“Some of the things I did were disgusting, shameful and sick,” he said. “I’m truly sorry to everyone I hurt, including my children.”
Prosecutors had sought a sentence of more than 11 years, citing what they called a pattern of coercive and degrading conduct. Defense attorneys pushed for time served, noting Combs has already spent 13 months in custody since his arrest in September 2024.
What’s Next
With credit for time already served, Combs could be released in late 2028, depending on good behavior and other credits.
Beyond the criminal case, Combs still faces dozens of civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault and abuse, which remain pending in courts across the country.
Background
The case brought global attention to the once-celebrated entrepreneur, known for his music career, fashion lines, and business ventures. Federal investigators said Combs arranged what he called “freak-offs,” where women were transported and pressured into sexual acts.
Though his legal team emphasized that the jury rejected the most severe trafficking charges, Friday’s sentencing cements a dramatic downfall for one of the most influential figures in hip-hop and entertainment
