PERKASIE, Pa. — Trinity Lutheran Church hosted a Wreaths Across America ceremony today at Trinity Perkasie Cemetery, located at 940 W. Market Street in Perkasie, honoring the service and sacrifice of United States military veterans laid to rest there.
Trinity Perkasie Cemetery, also commonly referred to as Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, is the church’s historic burial ground and the final resting place for numerous veterans who served in conflicts spanning multiple generations. Community members, volunteers, and families gathered to place wreaths on veterans’ graves, ensuring their service is remembered during the holiday season.
The ceremony was part of Wreaths Across America, a nationwide initiative held annually each December to honor America’s fallen heroes. The organization’s mission is captured in three words: Remember, Honor, Teach — remembering the fallen, honoring those who serve and their families, and teaching future generations the value of freedom.
Each wreath was placed with care and respect, often accompanied by a moment of silence. Volunteers were encouraged to say each veteran’s name aloud, reinforcing the belief that a person is never truly forgotten as long as their name is spoken.
Wreaths Across America began in 1992 as a small tribute at Arlington National Cemetery and has since grown into a national movement, with ceremonies held at more than 4,000 locations across the country, including local cemeteries like Trinity Perkasie Cemetery.
Church leaders and organizers thanked the community for their continued support, noting that events like this help preserve the legacy of those who served while educating younger generations about the true meaning of service and sacrifice.
