UPPER HANOVER TWP., Pa. — A historic one-room schoolhouse that had been converted into a residence suffered  heavy damage after a working fire Monday morning in Upper Hanover Township.
The fire was reported at approximately 8:00 a.m. at 1289 Saint Pauls Church Road. Initial reports indicated smoke and flames were showing from the single-story structure when firefighters arrived.
According to information from the scene, the blaze had spread throughout the former one-room schoolhouse, which had been converted into a home. Firefighters launched an aggressive interior attack, but the structure sustained extensive damage.
Due to the size and complexity of the incident, firefighters from three counties were called to assist in bringing the fire under control.
No injuries have been reported.
The Upper Hanover Township Fire Department was among the agencies leading the response, with numerous mutual aid departments assisting throughout the incident.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
