The explosion occurred shortly before 9 a.m. at a home in the 100 block of Highview Road. Initial emergency dispatches reported a one-story single-family home had exploded, with heavy fire and smoke showing. Firefighters arrived to find the structure heavily damaged and immediately began an offensive attack on the fire.

According to Hilltown Township Police, one worker who was inside the home at the time of the explosion was injured. Authorities said the man was able to crawl out of the debris before neighbors rushed to help.

One neighbor said he had just stepped outside to place mail in his mailbox when the explosion occurred. Another neighbor reported that a doctor who happened to be walking nearby immediately came to the injured worker’s aid until first responders arrived.

The injured worker was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

Police said a propane tank was being used inside the home to power one of the appliances. Investigators have not determined whether that was the cause of the explosion, and the incident remains under investigation.

Despite the force of the blast, Hilltown Township’s Chief of Police said no neighboring homes sustained damage.

Firefighters from multiple departments responded to the scene along with EMS, law enforcement, utility crews, and the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal, who is leading the investigation into what caused the explosion.

Authorities have not released the identity of the injured worker, and no additional injuries have been reported.

This is a developing story. First Source News will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
