QUAKERTOWN, Pa. — Large-scale radio-controlled aircraft are taking to the skies in the Quakertown area this weekend as the Buc-Le Aero Sportsmen host the 2026 Giant Scale Fly-In.
The event is being held Saturday, August 22, and Sunday, August 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the John P. Fritzges Memorial Flying Field near Kumry and Rosenberger roads.
Spectators will have an opportunity to watch a variety of giant-scale model aircraft in flight, including highly detailed radio-controlled planes flown by experienced pilots.
The event is open to spectators and also serves as a fundraiser for several local organizations.
Proceeds from the weekend will benefit the Trumbauersville Fire Company, Milford Township Fire Company and Bucks County SPCA. Donations are encouraged to help support the organizations.
Food and drinks will also be available during the event, catered by Sheila and Frank Dyer of Travelin Hotdogs.
The Buc-Le Aero Sportsmen have a long history of bringing model aviation enthusiasts together in the Quakertown area. The Giant Scale Fly-In gives both longtime aviation enthusiasts and families an opportunity to see large RC aircraft up close and watch them take flight.
The event continues through 3 p.m. Sunday, August 23.
