FREEMANSBURG, Pa. — A 61-year-old Montgomery County man is facing attempted homicide and other charges following a shooting Friday afternoon at a tire and auto care business in Freemansburg.
According to the Northampton County District Attorney’s Office, Paul R. Williams, 61, of Dresher, is accused of opening fire at the Jack Williams Tire & Auto Care on Clearfield Street.
Freemansburg Borough Police were dispatched to the business shortly after 4 p.m. Friday for a report of shots fired.
Investigators said Williams allegedly fired as many as nine gunshots, with one of the rounds striking a man in the wrist area. The victim was treated at the scene before being transported to a local hospital for additional treatment.
Police said investigators reviewed surveillance footage from the area and were able to identify Williams as a suspect. According to authorities, the footage also showed Williams in the area of the business several hours before the shooting occurred.
Williams was taken into custody Monday at his home in Dresher, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
He was preliminarily arraigned on charges including attempted homicide and aggravated assault, along with additional related offenses.
Authorities have not released additional information regarding what may have led to the shooting.
The charges are allegations, and Williams is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
