BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. — Authorities have opened an investigation after a man was found deceased in shallow water off the Newtown Rail Trail over the weekend.
Emergency crews responded after a passerby discovered the unresponsive man in a shallow water area near the trail and immediately contacted 911. Responding police and EMS confirmed the individual had died at the scene.
Detectives from Bucks County are now working to piece together the events leading up to the man’s death, including how he entered the water and how long he may have been there. The victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification of family.
The Bucks County Coroner’s Office is expected to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
Authorities have not reported any signs of foul play at this time and say there is no known threat to the public.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
