NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, Pa. — A juvenile has been charged following a threat involving a firearm directed at the Saucon Valley School District, according to the Northampton County Office of the District Attorney.
District Attorney Stephen G. Baratta announced Thursday that the threat was reported on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, after Saucon Valley Middle School contacted Lower Saucon Township Police regarding a potential firearm-related threat involving the district.
As a precaution, the Saucon Valley School District temporarily closed on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
Authorities say law enforcement quickly identified the juvenile responsible. Charges of Terroristic Threats and related offenses have been filed through the Northampton County Juvenile Probation Department.
Officials emphasized that the filing of charges represents an accusation, and the juvenile is presumed innocent unless proven otherwise.
With the suspect identified and charged, officials state there is no information indicating any ongoing threat to the school district or the general public.
District Attorney Baratta stressed that any threat — particularly those involving firearms — is taken seriously and will be addressed accordingly.
The investigation was conducted in cooperation between the Northampton County District Attorney’s Office, Hellertown Police Department, Lower Saucon Township Police Department, and the Saucon Valley School District.
The matter remains under the jurisdiction of the Northampton County Office of the District Attorney.
