BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Bethlehem Police are investigating a serious pedestrian crash that left a 31-year-old man in critical condition and are asking the public for assistance as detectives work to determine exactly what happened.

According to the Bethlehem Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of Linden Street at approximately 4:13 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

When officers arrived, they found an unconscious 31-year-old man lying in the northbound lane of Linden Street suffering from severe injuries. He was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is being conducted by the Bethlehem Police Department’s Major Accident Reconstruction Team (MART).

Preliminary findings indicate the victim may have been lying in the roadway when he was struck by the vehicle. Investigators reported no damage to the vehicle’s front bumper, grille, hood, or windshield. Damage was reportedly limited to the vehicle’s undercarriage.

Police are continuing to investigate how the victim came to be in the roadway and are working to reconstruct his movements in the moments leading up to the collision.

Police Asking for Video and Witnesses

Investigators are asking residents and businesses in the area surrounding the 2400 block of Linden Street to review any privately owned security or doorbell camera footage that may have captured the victim during the early morning hours of July 9.

Police are also asking anyone who:

  • Saw the victim walking in the area before the crash,
  • Witnessed the collision, or
  • Has any information that could assist investigators,

to contact the Bethlehem Police Department.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
