NEW YORK, N.Y. — A major police and EMS response was triggered Sunday evening after multiple people were stabbed inside Penn Station in Midtown Manhattan.
According to emergency officials, the incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on the NJ Transit concourse inside Penn Station, located near 7th Avenue and West 33rd Street beneath Madison Square Garden. Initial reports indicated approximately five victims had been injured in the attack.
The FDNY confirmed that five people suffered stab wounds. One victim sustained serious injuries, two victims suffered moderate injuries, and two others sustained minor injuries. All were transported to Bellevue Hospital for treatment.
Authorities report that a suspect was quickly taken into custody following the incident. Amtrak Police assisted in securing the scene and apprehending the individual believed responsible. Officials have not yet released the suspect’s identity or a motive.
Witnesses described chaotic scenes as commuters fled the station while police and emergency personnel rushed in. Portions of the station were temporarily secured as investigators worked the scene.
Penn Station is one of the busiest transportation hubs in the United States, serving Amtrak, NJ Transit, and Long Island Rail Road passengers daily. The incident remains under investigation.
