ALLENTOWN, Pa. — William Allen High School was placed on lockdown Wednesday morning, Oct. 28, after what the Allentown School District described as a “safety incident.”
District spokesperson Melissa Reese confirmed the lockdown and said Allentown police are investigating. Officials have not said what prompted it, whether anyone was hurt, or how long the lockdown is expected to last.
Wednesday’s lockdown is the latest in a string of safety scares at the school. The high school recently received three bomb threats over three days, and police have made arrests tied to two of them.
Last month, a threat of a weapon at William Allen turned out to be unfounded after investigators swept the school and students went into lockdown. That followed a bomb threat that sent William Allen students home early on the first day of school on Aug. 24.
During lockdowns, no one is permitted to enter or exit the school, the district has previously reminded families. Anyone with safety concerns can use the state’s anonymous tip line at 1-844-SAF2SAY or safe2saypa.org, available 24/7; in emergencies, call 911.
