
CATASAUQUA, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police are investigating after officials say an “unknown explosive device” was reportedly thrown from a vehicle near a polling location in Catasauqua, Lehigh County, Tuesday morning.
The incident happened in the area of Salem United Church of Christ, which is being used as a polling place. Emergency crews were called to the 600 block of Third Street around 9:12 a.m.
During a Tuesday morning briefing, Pennsylvania State Police said there was some type of explosion near the vehicle. Trooper Nathan Branosky said the investigation remains active, but officials reported no injuries and said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Police, fire crews, and canine resources responded to the scene. Police tape was placed in the area as investigators worked near the polling location. State police were also seen entering a home in the same block as part of the investigation.
The Catasauqua Fire Department District 2 advised voters using Salem UCC to access the polling location from 4th Street.
State police have not released information on any suspect, vehicle description, or possible motive at this time.
