LOWER SALFORD TWP., Pa. — A man was found dead inside a Lower Salford Township home Tuesday after deputies attempting to serve a warrant reported hearing what they believed was a gunshot, prompting a large police and SWAT response.
According to information released by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a home in the 200 block of Danielle Drive around 11:15 a.m. Tuesday to serve a failure-to-appear warrant on 62-year-old Raymond Cleary.
Authorities said deputies made visual contact with Cleary inside the residence. After Cleary failed to respond to deputies at the door, deputies reported hearing what they believed was a gunshot coming from inside the home.
Deputies took cover and attempted to make contact with Cleary but received no response.
The Central Montgomery County SWAT team was called to the scene, resulting in a significant law enforcement presence and road closures throughout the surrounding neighborhood.
SWAT officers eventually entered and cleared the residence. Cleary was found dead in an upstairs room, according to authorities.
The warrant deputies were attempting to serve reportedly stemmed from Cleary’s failure to appear for a July 9 pretrial conference related to a November 2025 arrest involving misdemeanor and summary DUI charges.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding Cleary’s death.
The incident remains under investigation. First Source News will provide updates as additional information becomes available.
